Masterack, a division of Leggett & Platt Commercial Vehicle Products, revealed its all-new SmartSpace cargo management system at The Work Truck Show 2013. The company said it developed the SmartSpace system from the ground up with the support of Masterack’s largest fleet, OEM and distributor customers.

The configurable storage system features stackable shelf units that are designed for use in the new high-cube cargo vans coming to market within the next 18 months (Masterack mentioned the Ford Transit and Ram ProMaster as examples), and smaller fleet vehicles such as Ford’s Transit Connect and Nissan’s NV200.

Masterack said it engineered the new SmartSpace with lightweight materials, that the system is modular and can be customized for different trades and business needs, including after vehicle delivery, and that it installs quickly. Masterack’s Jenn Voelker, marketing manager, said the system can be installed at 80 or 90 degrees for rear- and side-door access. The drawers have new latches that secure each individually for rattle-free storage, she added.

The company said SmartSpace will be available in the fourth quarter of 2013.
