Operations are scheduled to begin on April 1, 2026, following final approvals from Daimler Truck AG and Toyota Motor Corporation.
The name ARCHION combines “arches,” representing unity and connection, and “eons,” symbolizing a sustainable, forward-looking future. The new company will be headquartered in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, and will aim to “deliver the future of commercial mobility.”
Key leadership appointments include:
Karl Deppen, Representative Director & CEO (currently President & CEO, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation)

As part of the integration, the companies announced an Integrated Platform Strategy to combine strengths in R&D, procurement, production, and logistics. The plan includes developing shared heavy-, medium-, and light-duty vehicle platforms, improving cost efficiency, and accelerating innovation across both brands.
To streamline operations, domestic truck production sites will be consolidated from five to three by the end of 2028, focusing on the Kawasaki, Koga, and Nitta plants. Hino’s Hamura plant will transfer to Toyota, and Mitsubishi Fuso’s Nakatsu operations will merge into the Kawasaki site.
ARCHION will also accelerate investment in CASE technologies (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric) and hydrogen fuel cell systems, leveraging Toyota’s and Daimler Truck’s expertise to advance zero-emission mobility and connected fleet solutions.

Daimler Truck, Mitsubishi Fuso, Hino Motors, and Toyota Motor Corporation have agreed to integrate Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino. In the coming months, further details on the scope and nature of the collaboration, including the name of the new holding company, will be announced.
The deal will proceed to closing subject to approval from the relevant boards, shareholders, and authorities.
The four companies have been seeking a meaningful way to create the future of commercial vehicles through this collaboration. Based on the common desire to “contribute to an affluent society through mobility,” the four companies are proceeding with their collaboration, a press statement said.
By integrating Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors, the companies aim to improve business efficiency in areas such as development, procurement, and production. They expect this to significantly enhance the competitiveness of Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturers and strengthen the foundation of the automotive industry in Japan and Asia.
“The now decided integration of Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors is truly historic. We are bringing together two strong partners to form an even stronger company and to successfully shape the decarbonization of transportation,” said Karin Rådström, CEO, Daimler Truck.
Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino will integrate on an equal footing and cooperate in the areas of commercial vehicle development, procurement, and production. The new holding company will start operations in April 2026.
Daimler Truck and Toyota will each own 25% of the holding company of the integrated Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino. The holding company plans to own 100% of Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino.

“We are shaping the industry by bundling our strengths. With a strong new company, we combine our two trusted brands, our resources, competencies, and expertise to even better support our customers in their transportation needs in the future,” said Karl Deppen, CEO, Mitsubishi Fuso and designated CEO of the new holding company.
The new holding company will contribute to customers, various stakeholders, and the automotive industry by helping to solve issues surrounding commercial vehicles, such as carbon neutrality and logistics efficiency, while striving to realize a sustainable and prosperous mobility society and to strengthen the commercial vehicle business globally through the development of CASE technologies (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric), including hydrogen.
“Cooperation among these four companies is truly ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’. In addition to operational synergy, we can expect immeasurable synergy from synthesizing the different cultures and climates of us,” said Satoshi Ogiso, CEO, Hino.
