The W56 step van is designed to meet the challenging demands of the commercial vehicle industry, featuring a benchmark payload capacity of up to 10,000 pounds and a range of up to 150 miles.

Workhorse Group Inc., received its first fleet order for its zero-emission commercial vehicle, the W56 step van. The order comes from Mission Linen Supply, a California-based company that provides products and services to hospitality, medical, and industrial businesses.

"This purchase order marks an important milestone for Workhorse as we commercialize our purpose-built Class 5/6 vehicle. We look forward to working with both our dealer partner, Kingsburg Truck Center, and the team at Mission Linen Supply as they electrify their fleet," said Workhorse CEO Rick Dauch.

The initial order for 15 W56 step vans is expected to be delivered in 2024. 

The W56 step van is designed to meet the challenging demands of the commercial vehicle industry, featuring a benchmark payload capacity of up to 10,000 pounds and a range of up to 150 miles. 

The van also offers a large 1,000-plus cubic foot cargo box with a lowered step-in and wide cabin door for easier entry and exit.

Van specs include: 

  • Vehicle Clas: Class 5 & 6
  • Interior Volume: 1,000+ cubic ft.
  • Payload: ~10,000 lbs.
  • GVWR: 23,000 lbs.
  • Range: Up to 150 miles
  • Battery Capacit: 210 kWh
  • Certificatio; Targeted: FMVSS, ZEP, ZEV
  • Charging: Level 2 at 20 kW / ~12 hrs.; Level 3 at 100 kW / 3-4 hrs.
  • Mileage/Efficiency: 0.66-0.77 mi/kWh / 1.3-1.5 kWh/mi

"The W56’s advanced technology and features made it the right zero-emission vehicle for us to add to our fleet. We were impressed by the vehicle’s performance in field tests and look forward to receiving the vehicles in the new year," added Mission Linen Supply's Senior Manager for Fleet and Safety, Corporate Services, Evelyn Scott-Phillips.
