Ranger Design, a manufacturer and service provider of fleet upfit solutions and commercial van equipment, opened a new fleet-upfitting and manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina.
This new facility is Ranger Design’s third expansion in the past 10 years, adding to sites in:
Rochester, New York.
Seattle.
Montreal, Canada.
“Our geographic expansion into the southeast U.S. and the build-out of our fleet upfit solutions capabilities are a significant part of our overall growth plan. It positions us for new opportunities and enables us to better serve our current customers,” said Ron Cowie, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ranger Design.
This latest 62,000 square foot facility will provide Ranger Design with additional warehousing capacity and will be a one-stop-shop for resellers and fleet managers offering design, manufacturing and upfitting services for commercial EV and ICE vehicles.
“Ranger Design’s investment in Charleston County will not only add to South Carolina’s impressive automotive industry, but also provide new economic opportunities for our people. We welcome Ranger Design to our state and look forward to the work they will do here,” said South Carolina Govenor, Henry McMaster, in a government release.
As a Tier 1 OEM supplier to Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis, with a network of more than 200 resellers across the United Sates and Canada, Ranger Design has become the trusted partner for fleets, OEMs, and resellers with its turnkey solutions, customer support, fast delivery times, and state-of-the-art logistics and installations.
Located on Sightline Drive in North Charleston, South Carolina, the new facility is expected to be fully operational in October 2023.
“This $1.5M investment will allow our current distributor network to participate in local fleet projects that include installation, reporting and logistics. Also, it will enable us to better serve our North American Mercedes-Benz fleet customers, as well as providing an option for large fleet customers with regional needs,” added Cowie.
American Rheinmetall received an 18-month U.S. Army contract to deliver autonomous, hybrid-powered uncrewed ground vehicles. Harbinger is providing the truck platform for those vehicles.
