AmeriCam Automotive has added a new software function to its TradeCraft MDVR line that allows drivers to safely reverse even while recording. 

Normally, the TradeCraft system records events from multiple cameras located inside and outside of a vehicle. Up to four channels are recorded at one time, but are not displayed on the monitor to avoid unnecessary distraction for the driver. With the new software, the monitor automatically switches on and displays the view from the rear camera each time the vehicle is put into reverse gear. This higher level of system integration and increased functionality in essence provide a complimentary backup camera with the bottom line of increased safety.

TradeCraft systems provide fleet owners with a comprehensive portfolio of benefits including security by recording evidence relating to insurance fraud, theft and accidents. Operational costs such as fuel and maintenance can also be reduced by monitoring driver performance. Up to 2,000 hours of high-quality audio and video are recorded before the system starts to overwrite the old data.
