John Deere Electronic Solutions Inverters
Odyne and John Deere Electronic Solutions are partnering on an Odyne hybrid system using the JDES PD300 power inverter for the work truck industry.

Odyne Systems, LLC, a manufacturer of hybrid systems for trucks more than 14,000 pounds, is working with John Deere Electronic Solutions, previously known as Phoenix International, as a key supplier, delivering customer value in an Odyne hybrid system using the JDES PD300 power inverter.
The JDES power inverter drives a Remy electric motor, proven in more than 2 billion road miles, both during drive time providing launch assist and at the job site with the engine off, allowing for quiet, zero emission, fuel efficient neighborhood operation. The application is an example of a high quality, highly durable component developed by John Deere Electronic Solutions for John Deere vehicles which has a great application in the work truck industry.
Odyne’s proprietary and patented hybrid technology combines reliable electric power conversion, power control, and energy storage technology. The Odyne hybrid power system interfaces with Allison Transmission’s industry leading fully-automatic transmissions, Remy advanced electric propulsion motors with industry leading power density and efficiency, Johnson Controls lithium-ion battery technology and other robust, automotive quality components. The unique PTO (Power Take-off) interface provides a direct connection between the hybrid system and the transmission, enabling improved driving fuel efficiency. When the truck is stationary, Odyne’s hybrid system and ePTO can power most equipment for the entire work day with the engine off.
Sold through a worldwide distribution network, the Odyne hybrid system
provides benefits for new and existing work trucks. The Odyne plug-in hybrid drive system reduces fleet operating and maintenance costs, and depending on duty cycle, enables large trucks to obtain fuel economy improvements of up to 50 percent compared to traditional diesel or gasoline engines, according to the manufacturer.
Odyne Systems has been selected to participate in a $45.4 million U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) award to develop and deploy plug-in hybrid systems for over 120 trucks for companies and governmental entities throughout North America in 2014.
