Velociti and CATrak Technologies announced a patent-pending device that fleet owners can use to combat the increasingly prevalent threat of catalytic converter theft.
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, catalytic converter thefts increased from 16,600 claims in 2020 to 64,701 claims in 2022, while a study conducted by Carfax estimates that as many as 153,000 vehicles had the part stolen in 2022.
CATrak's Anti-Theft Solutions
Now available for purchase and installation, the CATrak device immediately alerts owners, managers, security personnel, and law enforcement to catalytic converter theft attempts.
In the event of a robbery attempt, if the CATrak harness is severed or subjected to vibration, it triggers an immediate activation of the siren, while simultaneously alerting the owner through the CATrak Mobile app.
Additionally, a GPS signal is initiated to precisely trace the catalytic converter's location online.
To ensure continuous functionality, the CATrak module is equipped with an internal battery that provides up to three hours of power to maintain the GPS and communication capabilities.
Product features include:
Discreet installation within the engine compartment.
Powerful siren for alerting individuals in the vicinity.
Access to comprehensive service and technical support.
Cost-effective solution in comparison to alternative security systems.
