Aegis Mobility, a global leader in solutions to prevent distracted driving, has introduced safe driving software for corporate policy enforcement that’s compatible with the Apple iOS operating system. FleetSafer, available from Aegis, enforces company safe-driving policies while employees are behind the wheel, mitigating the risks and costs associated with distracted driving.

This Software as a Service (SaaS) product now offers an enforcement solution for all Apple iOS devices, including the recently released iOS 7. The solution can automatically detect whether an employee is driving. This approach promotes safe, legal and responsible use of mobile devices.

In addition to Apple iOS, FleetSafer is also available on BlackBerry and Android devices and on Kyocera feature phones with Sprint Direct Connect.

FleetSafer is available in various formats, including a software-only setup, a hardware-assisted offering and a version that leverages existing telematics systems. FleetSafer is also equipped with a patent-pending method that automatically places the employee’s mobile device in safe mode when driving is sensed. This eliminates distracting functions while in safe mode and prevents a driver from evading the safe mode while driving. Emergency calls, however, are permitted.

“Employees who use mobile phones or tablets while driving are not only a danger to themselves; they also pose a significant risk and liability to their employer,” said Paul Zimmerman, CEO of Aegis Mobility “Aegis is committed to helping our customers implement the very best solutions that address this serious issue to protect employees and companies alike."

Aegis Mobility won Frost & Sullivan’s 2013 Customer Value Leadership Award for Distracted Driving Solutions.

FleetSafer is managed through an easy-to-use administrative portal. Additionally, FleetSafer typically provides a five to 10 times annual return on investment through reduced accident rates, Aegis said. With the expansion to the Apple iOS operating system, FleetSafer is now available to 96 percent of all smartphone users and one of the largest Push to Talk networks in the country.
