Terex Advance plans to integrate Cummins’ X15H hydrogen internal combustion engines into the Terex Advance Commander Series.

Cummins and Terex Advance announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) to integrate Cummins’ X15H hydrogen internal combustion engines into the Terex Advance Commander Series.
“As the global need to reduce emissions becomes stronger, we are actively pursuing practical, cost-effective strategies to help our ready-mix customers decarbonize. Cummins’ X15H is a feasible zero-carbon option for our renowned front-discharge mixer trucks, and we are eagerly anticipating the future deployment of this technology”
Currently powered by Cummins diesel engines, the Terex Advance Commander Series will include a zero-carbon hydrogen fuel option when series production of Cummins’ X15H engines begins later this decade.
Jim Nebergall, General Manager of Cummins Hydrogen Engine Business, commented on the viability of hydrogen internal combustion engines for heavy-duty, high-performance applications such as concrete mixer trucks, which often operate under demanding conditions and rugged terrain.

Cummins' X15H is integral to their fuel-agnostic platform, leveraging established internal combustion engine technology.
The integration of the X15H into truck chassis simplifies the process and doesn't necessitate extensive vehicle redesigns or operational changes. The substantial overlap between the X15H and Cummins' existing diesel platforms provides economies of scale in parts sourcing and supports existing maintenance procedures.

This recent LOI underscores the increasing global interest in hydrogen internal combustion engine technology.
Prior LOIs have been signed by various truck fleet customers, a global truck OEM, and an agricultural tractor manufacturer.
