Southern California Gas Co. reached a $46 million settlement with a motorcyclist who was hit by a fleet truck and dragged for several hundred feet.
The incident took place in February 2017 in Hawthorne, a Los Angeles suburb. The employee driving the SoCalGas truck suffered a seizure before and during striking a man on the motorcycle, reports NBC Los Angeles. The driver stopped, then dragged the victim more than 400 feet while attempting to flee the scene.
In his lawsuit, the victim alleged that SoCalGas was negligent when it allowed an employee who suffered from seizures to drive a utility truck, reports the Los Angeles Times.
