Small Business Volume Fleet Sales Shrivel in Sept.
The slight improvement seen in August among small business vehicle purchases turned downward [in September] with a 61-percent fall off vs. a year ago, reports CNW Research.
CNW Research reports in its Retail Automotive Summary for October: “With overall auto sales down 26.5 percent in September, total fleet and commercial sales held their own (to be generous) showing a decline of about 12 percent keeping a stinker of a month from turning into a black hole.”

“State government deliveries of fleet vehicles continue to shrink under a withering contraction of tax revenue and tighter budgets. This segment of the fleet business was off nearly 31 percent in September vs. a year ago. While large business fleets are taking fewer cars each month, their share of total fleet/commercial has risen.”
