Sherwin-Williams Showcases Full Line of Truck Coatings at Work Truck Week 2025

The Sherwin-Williams General Industrial division is exhibiting at NTEA Work Truck Week 2025 and showcasing innovative coatings that have been proven to enhance efficiency and production in the commercial vehicle industry.

Transportation and commercial vehicle manufacturers are constantly striving to reduce costs and boost capacity without compromising quality. Sherwin-Williams General Industrial helps them do this by acting as an extension of their paint team – learning a customer’s operations, optimizing finishing processes and implementing solutions that eliminate bottlenecks.

Sherwin-Williams said that improving efficiency and reducing waste turns the paint line into a seamless, cost-effective operation that drives productivity and profitability. 

At Work Truck Week, Sherwin-Williams is sharing real-world examples of the cost savings and operational improvements customers achieved with products like Duraspar Industrial Performanc (IP), Genesis, and Powdura OneCure. Attendees can visit the company’s booth to see how Sherwin-Williams products can help them achieve results such as efficiency and productivity gain. 

Achieving Productivity Gain on Paint Line

Efficiency is critical to maximizing production on the finishing line, yet many manufacturers don’t realize how much they can improve. One work truck manufacturer reached out to Sherwin-Williams for help. 

The company needed to increase capacity to fulfill a new contract. At the time, limitations of the company’s paint process only allowed them to finish one unit per shift. 

Sherwin-Williams brought in a team of experts to audit its paint line and uncovered several opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability. These included eliminating unnecessary steps in its process, switching to an easy-to-apply polyurethane paint system, and streamlining masking.

These changes, along with comprehensive training and support from Sherwin-Williams's local technical service teams, transformed the company’s finishing line into a more linear process. 

Sherwin-Williams said this significantly reduced total finishing time per unit and lowered the finishing cost per unit to a quarter of the customer’s previous spend. Now, the customer has the potential to produce up to four units per shift, which could increase profit by more than $600,000 per month, Sherwin-Williams said.

“Anyone can claim to have the best products in the industry,” said Kirk Lipes, global business director of transportation at Sherwin-Williams. “But great products are just the start. Driving a real impact requires a partnership – a deep understanding of the customers’ operations and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. By going beyond the traditional supplier relationship, we’re able to transform our customers’ finishing lines, eliminating bottlenecks and creating efficiencies that result in significant savings. It’s a win-win for the OEM, as well as Sherwin-Williams.”
