Commercial fleet sales from nine manufacturers totaled 47,942 in November 2020, representing a 11.8% overall decrease when compared to the same time last year, though this was an improvement over what was reported the previous month in October.
Total fleet sales for the month — which is comprised of commercial, rental, and government sales — came in at 132,145, which represented a 28.5% drop from the same time last year. Overall declines are driven by a reduction in sales in the rental market, though the segment has improved significantly and is down 41.6% in November compared to the 76.7% decline in April.
Month-over-month declines in commercial fleet sales are continuing to lighten. For example, truck and SUV sales are down 8.5% compared to the 9.4% decline in October.
Through November 2020, rental fleet car sales fell by 14.7% totaling 35,067 units. Truck and SUV segment sales decreased 57% at 30,685 units. Combined, rental fleet sales totaled 65,752 for the month of November
Meanwhile, government fleets continued overall recovery in November, though sedan sales were down 61%. However, this was offset by a 11.3% increase in truck and SUV sales, which makes up the lion’s share of fleet sales. Combined, truck, SUV, and car vehicle sales for government fleets amounted to 18,451 units, which reflected a 3.1% month-over-month increase.
Year-to-date, as of November 2020, overall fleet sales from nine manufacturers total 1,519,166, 41% less on a year-over-year basis.
So far car sales are down 54.7% year-to-date and truck and SUV segment sales are down 35.8% year-to-date, both of which are improvements over October.
