Truck and SUV Sales Drive Growth

GM maintained its leadership in full-size pickups, securing a 40% market share, with best Q1 sales since 2007. The company also led the full-size SUV segment, achieving a 31% increase and its best Q1 since 2007, with market share near 69%. Notably, Chevrolet’s Silverado and GMC’s Sierra had strong showings, driving GM's continued dominance in the truck category.

GMC also posted a 183% increase in EV sales, with the Sierra EV driving much of the growth.

Retail and Fleet Sales Leadership

In addition to its success in fleet sales, GM continued to outperform in the retail market, with a 15% increase in sales. Chevrolet and Cadillac led the way in retail, and GM expects its market share to grow to approximately 17% by the end of the year.

"We outpaced every major automaker in sales growth, driven by our broad portfolio of vehicles, from trucks to luxury SUVs and a comprehensive EV lineup," said Rory Harvey, GM Executive Vice President and President of Global Markets. "We're proud to lead in full-size trucks, maintain momentum in the SUV and luxury categories, and offer the industry's most extensive EV options."

Looking Ahead

GM’s impressive first-quarter results underscore its ongoing dominance in both the traditional and electrified vehicle markets.

The company’s strong performance in fleet and retail sales positions it for continued success as the year progresses, with the broadest portfolio of vehicles, including new EVs like the Equinox EV and Blazer EV, and the enduring appeal of its full-size pickups and SUVs.
