FCA US plans to introduce a mild hybrid Ram 1500 and its next generation Jeep Wrangler with several alternative powertrains to meet increasing stringent tailpipe emissions standards and fuel economy regulations.

FCA US plans to introduce a mild hybrid Ram 1500 and its next generation Jeep Wrangler with several alternative powertrains to meet increasing stringent tailpipe emissions standards and fuel economy regulations, the company has announced.
FCA US will eventually produce a next-generation Ram 1500 mild hybrid, which could mean equipping the truck with automatic stop-start. FCA US could produce other "next gen powertrains" for the truck by 2022, according to a Jan. 27 presentation for investors.
The next-generation Jeep Wrangler, which will be introduced in 2017, could also eventually offer alternative powertrains and a mild hybrid model. FCA US is considering producing a diesel-powered Wrangler before 2022 and a hybrid-electric Wrangler after 2022.
At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the company announced plans to produce a plug-in hybrid Chrysler Pacifica minivan to pair with the more fuel efficient Chrysler Pacifica minivan that will replace the Town and Country. FCA is also phasing out the Dodge Grand Caravan.
