Fate of Lincoln Sedans Uncertain

There are conflicting reports about the future of Lincoln sedans, including the MKZ and Continental, following Ford's announcement that it would offer a 90% truck, SUV, and van lineup by the 2020 model year.
It’s likely Lincoln’s sedans will also disappear, although this wasn't explicitly stated in the April 25 press release from Ford. Lincoln sells the mid-size MKZ and full-size Continental — both share platforms with Ford counterparts. If Ford is phasing out development of sedan platforms, Lincoln will likely suffer as well, reports TechCrunch.
Despite Ford’s decision to phase out its sedans in North America, Lincoln says that it’s still committed to its sedan lineup. A Lincoln spokesman recently told Automobile Magazine that it is "committed" to the Continental and MKZ sedans.
Ford/Lincoln Limousine & Livery Vehicles declined to comment on how or if Ford's decision affects the Lincoln Continental and Lincoln MKT Town Car until early publicity on the announcement settles and more details emerge, when contacted by LCTmag.com, a companion publication of Automotive Fleet.
