SEARCHWASHINGTON - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have released their 2012 Fuel Economy Guide, which provides users with fuel economy and emissions information for 2012-MY vehicles.
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have released their 2012 Fuel Economy Guide, which provides users with fuel economy and emissions information for 2012-MY vehicles.
The organizations said some models will display new fuel-economy labels. The labels are required in model-year 2013 but are optional for automakers for the 2012 model-year.
Each vehicle listing in the guide provides an estimated annual fuel cost. The DOE and EPA calculate the estimate based on each vehicle’s mpg rating as well as national estimates for annual mileage and fuel prices.
In addition, the online version of the guide allows users to input local gasoline prices and typical driving habits to receive a personalized fuel cost estimate.
EPA and DOE said they will provide online updates of fuel economy information as more 2012 vehicles reach the market.
