Clean Corridor Fuels has opened Alabama’s largest public access CNG station in the city of Dothan. The station is designed to service vehicles from small cars to heavy commercial vehicles.

The station is located at 735 Ross Clark Circle where U.S. 231, U.S. 431 and U.S. 84 converge. It was built as part of a remodel of a Hobo Pantry Chevron station that Corridor found to be an ideal location for a CNG station.

“When we surveyed Alabama looking for the right place to build our first CNG fueling station we looked at a dozen or so sites,” said Dan Johnson, CEO of Corridor Clean Fuels. “Dothan quickly moved to the forefront because of the large number of vehicles traveling in and through the area.”

The location also gave the company an opportunity to work with Home Oil Co. and Southeast Alabama Gas District to help sell Corridor’s Cynergy brand of fuel, says Johnson.

“We think CNG will grow rapidly in adoption over the next 5-10 years,” said Tim Shirley, president of Home Oil Co. “This partnership with Corridor Clean Fuels allows us to diversify our fueling options and gain traction as the market for natural gas fueling develops.”

The new station is also a boost to the efforts of the state’s Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition which seeks to provide public clean energy sources in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy.

“This project puts Dothan on the forefront of efforts to expand the availability and use of alternative fuels,” said Mark Bently, executive director of the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition.

The station is selling CNG at an initial cost of $1.98 per gasoline gallon equivalent.
