Bridgestone is adding seven new sizes of its DriveGuard tires designed for minivans and compact SUVs that will be available May 1. The tire line was already available in 36 run-flat sizes for sedans.
"We introduced the DriveGuard tire line in 2014 for coupes, sedans and wagons," said Philip Dobbs, chief marketing officer for Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC. "Since then, we heard customers resoundingly say that they wanted that same peace of mind when behind the wheel of their family vehicles — minivans, crossovers and small SUVs."
The addition of the seven sizes gives the company 80% coverage of the minivan segment and 43% coverage of the CUV segment, according to Bridgestone. All seven are W-rated and include the 225/65RF16, 235/65RF16, 225/65RF17, 225/60RF17, 235/65RF17, 235/60RF17, and 235/55RF18.
The new sizes will fit vehicles such as the Jeep Cherokee, Toyota Sienna, Subaru Forester, Dodge Caravan, Chevy Equinox, and the Honda CR-V, Odyssey and Pilot.
Bridgestone backs the H- and V-rated sizes with a 60,000-mile limited tread wear warranty. The seven W-rated sizes are backed by a 50,000-mile warranty.
Featuring specially designed run-flat technology, the premium all-season touring tires give drivers the ability to continue driving up to 50 miles (80 kilometers) at up to 50 miles (80 kilometers) per hour to safety on a flat tire.
Bridgestone introduced the new sizes at a drive-and-learn at Texas Motor Speedway on April 27. Two Firestone Firehawk tire lines were also introduced: an all-season performance tire and a summer UHP tire. More information on the new Firehawk tires will be available May 4, according to Bridgestone.
