5-Year Old Dies in Fatal Crash with Florida Utility Truck
The young boy was riding in the car with his parents when their Kia Soul was reportedly rear-ended by a bucket truck driven by a longtime employee of Sumter Electric Cooperative.
A five-year-old boy in Florida died Oct. 18 in a fatal crash involving a Sumter Electric Cooperative (SECO) bucket truck, according to several news sources.
The young boy, Olan Strong, was riding in the car with his parents when their Kia Soul was reportedly rear-ended by David Raber, a longtime employee of SECO, reported the Orlando Sentinel.
Olan was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Sentinel. His parents, Channing and Lena Strong, were hurt during the crash and discharged from Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Raber sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
SECO Energy is doing an internal investigation, spokesman Barry Bowman said in a statement obtained by the Sentinel. Both drivers and all passengers were properly restrained, and alcohol was not a factor, investigators said.
