The 2020 Ram 1500 earned top honors as the Truck of Texas at the annual Texas Truck Rodeo, hosted by the Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA). In addition, Green Car Journal has named the Ram 1500 as its 2020 Green Truck of the Year. And, Car and Driver has named the 2020 Jeep Gladiator and the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel to its combined “10Best Cars and Trucks” list as the winners in the Mid-Size Pickup category and the Full-Size Pickup truck category, respectively.
Truck of Texas
Ram Truck won every category the brand entered, securing eight awards, the most of any brand at the event. In addition to Jeep Wrangler winning Off-Road SUV of Texas for the 10th year in a row, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator won Mid-Size Truck of Texas, and the Jeep Renegade captured Sub-compact SUV of Texas.
“The 2020 Ram 1500 once again captured the hearts of our members this year and has earned our highest honor as the 2020 Truck of Texas,” said Michael Marrs, President of TAWA. “It continues to be the benchmark for capability, technology and the attention to detail sets it apart from the rest of the segment.”
More than 40 pickups trucks, SUVs and commercial vehicles were entered in the competition this year and more than 50 TAWA members attended.
2020 Green Truck of the Year
Ram's 1500 was named Green Truck of the year for the second consecutive year by Green Car Journal.
"The all-new EcoDiesel engine and our eTorque mild-hybrid V-6 Pentastar and V-8 HEMI engines offer Ram 1500 customers multiple fuel-efficient powertrain choices," said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand. "We are honored to receive the Green Truck of the Year award, affirming our commitment to powertrain technology leadership in the truck segment."
Green Car Journal editors consider all potential truck models in the U.S. market, weighing environmental attributes alongside traditional criteria that define what makes a great pickup, such as capability, versatility, safety, value, and style. The winner was selected from five finalists by a Green Truck of the Year jury, comprised of automotive experts and Green Car Journal staff.
Car and Driver’s 10Best Cars and Trucks List
Car and Driver evaluates each contender versus its peers using a 100-point scale, basing each score on how well it meets its intended purpose, how good a value it is and how compelling it is to operate. This is the second year in a row Ram 1500 – the most awarded light-duty truck in America – has been named to Car and Driver’s 10Best.
According to Car and Driver, “The Ram isn’t just the best truck out there; it’s one of the best vehicles. Its supple ride, rich interior and fluid power delivery elevate it to a place we never thought possible for a pickup.”
