Ford Motor Company recently hosted some of its largest fleet and commercial customers at a daylong learning session about the all-new 2015 Ford F-150.
During the educational immersion, which was held near Ford World Headquarters in Michigan, attendees learned how the latest F-150 provides more features than any of its predecessors, with sessions focused on capability, performance, technology, and repairability, according to the company.
Among the day's highlights was the hands-on opportunity to take an F-150 on Ford’s shake-and-rattle test track. Attendees also experienced the F-150's trailering capabilities. Other activities included a tour of the Dearborn Truck Plant at the historic Ford Rouge Center, one of two places in the U.S. where the F-150 is built.
Thanks to weight savings of as much as 700 pounds through the use of more high-strength steel in the F-150’s frame, the backbone of the truck, and an all-new body made from high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy, the all-new F-150 can tow as much as 1,110 pounds more and haul as much as 530 pounds more, has a 5 percent to 16 percent better power-to-weight ratio, and has EPA fuel economy ratings that are 5 to 29 percent better than current models, depending on engine, according to the automaker.
When equipped with available 2.7L EcoBoost engine, the new F-150 4x2 has gasoline EPA-estimated 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway/22 mpg combined fuel economy ratings.
