Available in the global market since 1995, the Dodge Sprinter has experienced worldwide sales of more than 1.2 million units, and is used in more than 100 countries throughout the world. According to Dodge, the all-new 2007 Sprinter boasts an array of new features with fleet managers in mind.

All-New Features

The new 2007 Sprinter is available in three all-new vehicle lengths (233, 273, and 289 inches) on two new wheelbases of 144 inches, 170 inches, or 170 inches extended with a 15-inch longer rear overhang. Also offered are three interior roof height options, standard (65 inches), high (76 inches), and mega-roof (84 inches).

All-new sliding cargo doors and rear doors have been developed for numerous versions of the 2007 Sprinter, which also boasts a wide rear door opening — 270 degrees — and up to 600 cubic feet of cargo capacity.

New standard features include a pallet-friendly cargo-sliding side door, power windows and locks, integrated wide-angle mirrors, clear-lens halogen H-7 headlamps, 16-inch wheels, tilt-and height-adjustable steering wheel, seats with quick-release latches, CD radio, one-touch triple flash function turn signals, and all-new adaptive electronic stability program (ESP).

Power & Performance

The 2007 Dodge Sprinter is powered by an all-new high-performance 3.0L V-6 turbodiesel engine with 154 hp and maximum torque of 280 lb.-ft. at 1,200-2,400 rpm. The engine’s low emissions rating meets all federal emissions standards, and comes equipped with a standard particulate filter. Also available in a 3.5L V-6 high-performance gas engine with 254 hp, delivering 250 lb.-ft. of torque.

Fleet Fact: When did the Dodge Sprinter become the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter? In 2010!

All 2007 models are equipped with a standard five-speed automatic transmission, which offers effortless shifting, well-spaced ratios, long service life and high fuel economy, according to Dodge.

The driver shifts gears with an instrument panel-mounted gearshift located on the center console. The shift commands are transmitted via Bowden cables, allowing the shift effort to be further reduced. If desired, the driver may limit the shift range manually by nudging the selector lever to the right or left.

According to Dodge, in complement to engine braking, this feature is particularly useful on inclines, slopes, or downhill gradients.

Van Innovation

The 2007 Dodge Sprinter features an independent shock absorber strut front suspension with wishbones. On all models, transverse leaf springs manufactured from fiberglass-reinforced plastic, which according to Dodge, renders them substantially lighter than conventional steel leaf springs, also provides greater stabilizing power.

Built with flat frame rails (providing a good mounting surface), a bolted rear-cross frame member, and the fuel-filler neck and nozzle integrated with the cab, this vehicle comes upfit-ready. Taillight wiring harnesses may be lengthened easily to fit extended utility bodies or may be deleted if required.

Oil change intervals of 10,000 miles and maintenance intervals of 30,000 miles contribute to the 2007 Sprinter’s low maintenance costs, and its 25-gallon fuel tank and low fuel consumption ensure an extended driving range, according to Dodge.

Enhanced passenger compartment strength as well as significant ride and comfort improvements have been achieved by redeveloping all suspension bearings to provide maximum vibration isolation.
