With the Texas sun shining and deep fryers frying, Nissan returned to the heart of truck country – the annual State Fair of Texas – to reveal the 2019 Titan. Following a rockin' performance from Fender artist Eric Johnson, the new pickup was introduced by Fred DePerez, vice president, North American LCV Business Unit, Nissan North America, to a group of the nation's top truck, auto, and lifestyle media a day before doors open to an anticipated 2.5-plus million fair-goers.
On sale this fall, the 2019 Titan and Titan XD will be on display through October 21 at the historic Fair Park in Dallas.
"The 2019 TITAN will be our most refined truck yet," said DePerez. "Backed by America's Best Truck Warranty – featuring bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles – the 2019 Titan and Titan XD will build upon today's strength and capabilities by adding advanced technology, new safety features and an awesome new audio system to provide the soundtrack for all the amazing adventures ahead of you."
In addition to the 2019 Titan and Titan XD unveilings, DePerez provided media with a look at the first official TV spot in the purpose-driven Calling All Titans marketing campaign. Nissan and partners American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and National Park Foundation first announced the campaign on Sept. 5 and will set another milestone when the spot airs tonight during the North Carolina vs. Miami college football game on ESPN.
New for the 2019 model year, TITAN and TITAN XD models add the "emotion of a live performance" created by the new, segment-exclusive Fender Premium Audio System. The system features a 485-watt, 9-channel amplifier, and Panasonic's proprietary Acoustic Motion Control. It is offered on four 2019 Titan and Titan XD Crew Cab grade levels and one Titan and Titan XD King Cab model.
Other 2019 model-year refinements include a new standard 7-inch touchscreen audio/IT display with NissanConnect featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Nissan's exclusive Rear Door Alert system. Also added for 2019 are additional USB media and charge ports for the front and back seat passengers and two new exterior colors – Moab Sunset and Midnight Pine.
The Rear Door Alert (RDA) system is now standard on all King Cab and Crew Cab Titan and Titan XD models. The system uses the vehicle's door sensors, horn and message display to help remind drivers to check the back seat after the vehicle is parked. Nissan plans to have RDA standard on all four-door trucks, sedans, and SUV nameplates by model-year 2022.
All 2019 Titan and Titan XD models are assembled in Canton, Miss., and covered by "America's Best Truck Warranty" – featuring bumper-to-bumper coverage for 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Vehicles covered by the warranty, which includes basic and powertrain coverage, include all Titan V-8 gasoline-powered models and diesel and V-8 gasoline-powered 2019 Titan XD models.
Titan is available in a full range of rugged 1/2-ton models, including Single Cab, King Cab, and Crew Cab body configurations, 4x2 and 4x4 drive, and a choice of up to five grade levels. Every Titan is powered by a 390 hp 5.6L Endurance V-8 gasoline engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.
The 2019 Titan XD lineup includes Crew Cab, King Cab and Single Cab body styles, two bed lengths, choice of a powerful Cummins 5.0L V-8 Turbo Diesel or Nissan 5.6L Endurance V-8 engines, 4x4 or 4x2 drivelines, and up to five well-equipped grade levels.
Titan XD has an available maximum towing capacity of 12,710 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 2,990 pounds (when properly equipped). For 2019, the Titan XD Diesel also adds a larger capacity DEF tank and a new integrated gooseneck hitch with a plug inside the bed for even greater ease of towing.
