In January 2026, what recalls are out there that you need to know about, and which ones might impact your fleet? Work Truck has the answers in this comprehensive overview of recent recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recalls are categorized as either pickup truck, van, and SUV recalls, or medium- and heavy-duty truck recalls, and the manufacturers are listed in alphabetical order.

Pickup Truck, Van & SUV

Chrysler

  • Recall Number: C2C, C7C, and C8C

  • Vehicles: 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,589

  • Component: Air bags

  • Breakdown: The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace one or both side curtain air bags, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed Dec. 18, 2025.

  • Recall Number: B4C and B8C

  • Vehicles: 2025-2026 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Ram Cab Chassis, and Ram 5500 Cab Chassis 

  • Potential Units Affected: 72,509

  • Component: Electrical system

  • Breakdown: A software error may cause the instrument panel cluster display to be blank.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and update the instrument panel software or replace the instrument panel cluster, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed Dec. 18, 2025.

  • Recall Number: C3C

  • Vehicles: 2025 Ram 2500 Pickup, 3500 Pickup, 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Cab Chassis, and 5500 Cab Chassis

  • Potential Units Affected: 52,565

  • Component: Air bags, electronic stability control (ESC)

  • Breakdown: A software error in the occupant restraint controller module may cause the driver's side air bag and/or seat belt pretensioner not to deploy in a crash and disable the electronic stability control (ESC) system.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the occupant restraint controller module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 15, 2026.

Ford

  • Recall Number: 25C71

  • Vehicles: 2019 Expedition

  • Potential Units Affected: 890

  • Component: Electrical system

  • Breakdown: The "Transmission Not In Park" warning message and associated chime duration are shorter than intended.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the instrument cluster panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 30, 2026.

  • Recall Number: 24S33

  • Vehicles: 2022-2024 Maverick Hybrid and 2020 Escape Hybrid

  • Potential Units Affected: 87

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: The Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) software may cause the vehicle to shift into neutral unexpectedly, causing a loss of drive power.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the HPCM software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 30, 2026.

  • Recall Number: 25SE7

  • Vehicles: 2025-2026 Maverick

  • Potential Units Affected: 6,897

  • Component: Structure

  • Breakdown: The instrument panel cover may separate when the air bag deploys.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the instrument panel cover, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk are expected to be mailed Jan. 19, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated February 2026.

  • Recall Number: 25C71

  • Vehicles: 2025-2026 Mustang Mache E

  • Potential Units Affected: 45,047

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The Light Driver Control Module B (LDCMB) may fail, preventing the turn signals, daytime running lights, low beam, and high beam headlights from illuminating.

  • Solution: Ford will release an over-the-air (OTA) update or dealers will update the LDCMB software, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk are expected to be mailed Jan. 30, 2026. Another notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available, anticipated April 2026.

  • Recall Number: 25S68

  • Vehicles: 2022 Transit

  • Potential Units Affected: 2

  • Component: Back over prevention

  • Breakdown: The rearview camera supplied in the Rear Video Camera and Prep Kit will not function when installed by the final stage manufacturer (upfitter), resulting in a blank rearview image.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the audio control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 23, 2026.

  • Recall Number: 23V165

  • Vehicles: 2021-2022 Bronco

  • Potential Units Affected: 35

  • Component: Back over prevention

  • Breakdown: The rearview camera image may still be displayed after a backing event has ended.

  • Solution: Dealer will update the SYNC module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Feb. 6, 2026.

  • Recall Number: 25SD9

  • Vehicles: 2022-2025 E-Transit

  • Potential Units Affected: 32,160

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: The left rear axle half shaft may partially disengage from the power drive unit, which can result in a loss of drive power.

  • Solution: The remedy is under development. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed Dec. 26, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in March 2026

  • Recall Number: 25C69

  • Vehicles: 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning BEV, 2024-2026 Mustang Mach-E, and 2025-2026 Maverick

  • Potential Units Affected: 272,645

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: The integrated park module may fail to lock into the park position when the driver shifts into park. 

  • Solution: The park module software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed Feb. 2, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in February 2026.

  • Recall Number: 25SD8

  • Vehicles: 2026 Super Duty F-250 and F-350

  • Potential Units Affected: 6,819

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: The right rear axle shaft may have been improperly heat-treated during manufacturing and may break.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect the right rear axle shaft date code and replace the axle shaft as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed Jan. 5, 2026

  • Recall Number: 25SD4

  • Vehicles: 2025 Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger 

  • Potential Units Affected: 679

  • Component: Service brakes, hydraulic

  • Breakdown: The Electronic Brake Booster (EBB) module may malfunction while driving or when the driver is utilizing an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) feature, resulting in a loss of power brake assist.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the electronic brake booster, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were expected to be mailed Dec. 15, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in January 2026

  • Recall Number: 25SD3

  • Vehicles: 2026 Explorer, Mustang, Lincoln Corsair, and 2025 Maverick 

  • Potential Units Affected: 6

  • Component: Engine

  • Breakdown: The cylinder head may have been improperly manufactured, which can cause the ball plugs to fail, resulting in an oil leak.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the cylinder head assembly, free of charge. All affected vehicles are still within dealership inventory and therefore no owner notification letters will be mailed.

  • Recall Number: 25C66

  • Vehicles: 2025 Lincoln Navigator

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,195

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The rear lightbar may have cracks in the outer lens or weld track that allow moisture to accumulate, which can result in inoperative or flickering reverse lights.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the rear lightbar, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed Jan. 8, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in July 2026. 

General Motors

  • Recall Number: N252533510

  • Vehicles: 2024–2026 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,120

  • Component: Air bags

  • Breakdown: Incorrect sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software may cause a second-stage passenger air bag deployment when only a first stage is intended.

  • Solution: The SDM software will be updated, free of charge, either over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 26, 2026.

  • Recall Number: N252532020

  • Vehicles: 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500

  • Potential Units Affected: 3,408

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: These vehicles may not have received an owner's manual during production. 

  • Solution: Dealers will provide the owner’s manual, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 12, 2026.

Rivian Automotive

  • Recall Number: FSAM-1770

  • Vehicles: 2022-2025 EDV

  • Potential Units Affected: 34,824

  • Component: Seat belts

  • Breakdown: The driver's seat belt pretensioner cable may become damaged.

  • Solution: Rivian has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update. In addition Rivian will inspect and replace the driver's seat belt pretensioner assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 19, 2026.

Medium- & Heavy-Duty Recalls

Altec

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2023-2025 Aerial Device and Digger Derrick

  • Potential Units Affected: 152

  • Component: Electrical system, exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The electronic taillight module harness may have inadequate circuit protection.

  • Solution: Altec will provide instructions on inspecting and updating the circuit as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Feb. 13, 2026.

  • Recall Number: CSN 3272

  • Vehicles: 2022-2023 AA55, 2023 AM55, AN46, and AN55

  • Potential Units Affected: 18

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: A check valve that retains oil in the boom hoses may not have been installed, allowing a vacuum to form and reducing the upper boom’s insulation.

  • Solution: Altec will provide instructions to owners on how to inspect their vehicles for the check valve. Altec service will install the check valve as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Feb. 20, 2026.

  • Recall Number: CSN-3265

  • Vehicles: 2019-2024 AT Series

  • Potential Units Affected: 37

  • Component: Electrical system

  • Breakdown: The lower emergency stop may not function when the upper control is selected.

  • Solution: Altec will correct the wiring between the power distribution module and the machine harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan.16, 2026.

  • Recall Number: CSN-3266

  • Vehicles: 2025 LR8 Series

  • Potential Units Affected: 14

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: The collar on the lockbolts for the shear plates may have been improperly formed during assembly, resulting in bolt failure.

  • Solution: Altec will inspect the lockbolts and replace them as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 23, 2026.

International

  • Recall Number: 25525

  • Vehicles: 2016-2023 Lonestar, 2018 8600, 2018-2023 LT, 2021-2026 MV, 2022-2023 RH, 2023-2026 HX, and 2025-2026 HV

  • Potential Units Affected: 678

  • Component: Electrical system, service brakes, air

  • Breakdown: Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.

  • Solution: International will work with Bendix to reprogram the ECU, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 19, 2026. 

Mack Trucks

  • Recall Number: SC0491

  • Vehicles: 2009-2015 Granite

  • Potential Units Affected: 628

  • Component: Service brakes, air

  • Breakdown: Vehicles remedied under Recall 15V804 (SC0398) may have had incorrect parts installed during subsequent repairs. The incorrect parts may cause a brake imbalance between the steer and drive axle brakes and the rear brakes to overheat.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and replace the brake chambers as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Feb. 2, 2026.
