InPower has developed the SS-GM-02, a Start/Stop High Idle Control Module for chassis engine control in 2019 model-year and newer General Motors C2500 to C6500 and Navistar CV vehicles equipped with diesel engines. These vehicles must have the factory-installed Power Takeoff (PTO) option with the remote PTO controls enabled (requires GM Techtool).

“The proper application of the SS-GM-02 Start/Stop High Idle Control Module provides a fully integrated and reliable system for chassis engine control,” said J. Patrick Sullivan, InPower’s Operations Manager. “This improves engine efficiency and offers fuel savings.”

In addition to start/stop control of the GM chassis, the SS-GM-02 offers two selectable high idle RPM inputs via the SS-GM-02 (programmed by GM Techtool), and an additional Standby Idle (default is 950 RPM) from the PTO controller itself. It also can provide a wide variety of programmable and configurable options with custom controls that meet specific application requirements, such as dual voltage monitoring.

“Along with providing a clean and reliable start/stop/high idle interface, the SS-GM-02 can be readily customized,” said Sullivan. “Since every application is different, we encourage customers to contact us for assistance in fully defining the specific types of control they need.”

The SS-GM-02 module is easy to install, according to the manufacturer, and is compact with a frame-rail mountable case. It’s also designed to be waterproof to IP66, dust proof and hard-spray-resistant.
