Magellan, a provider of GPS navigation devices since 1986, announced the debut of Gemini, the company’s new AI-based telematics camera solution.
According to the company, fleets using Gemini will benefit from a full recording, monitoring, and tracking solution built from the ground up to give both business fleet drivers and back office operators the ultimate in control and safety.

Designed for buses, utility trucks, government vehicles, and business fleets, Gemini uses built-in WiFi and full HD video recording to continuously record and loop back for every eight hours driven. If the driver decelerates, departs from the lane, or brakes harshly, the camera automatically begins recording and uploads the clip to the Cloud.
Operators are then alerted and able to view the clip for safety and driver training, vehicle alerts and, if involved in a collision, the vehicle could be protected by the individual insurance coverage.
“With Magellan Gemini, Operators no longer need to sift through 24-hours-worth of driver footage to spot unsafe behaviors or opportunities for further training. By automatically recording and sending clips to the Cloud, Gemini alerts Operators to the key behaviors needing extra attention,” said Ted Lee, Head of Business and Product Innovation for Magellan. “In addition, the vehicle can immediately be tracked due to the award-winning GPS telematics and location data used in tandem with the camera for instant alerts and real-time fleet management.”
The dual ultra-wide view cameras record road-facing evidence and driving behaviors with a 140 tiltable lens and a rugged design that can withstand harsh conditions, while Automotive Dead Reckoning (ADR) creates precise positioning. The results is a dashcam that enables fleet management companies to monitor live street views, driver behaviors, GPS tracking, parking support, cloud recording and alerts.
“Gemini helps fleet managers on multiple fronts, not only does it continuously record and support road-facing evidence, but it can be applied to driver safety training, help with remote parking, and even support driver routing through GPS services. We like to think of Gemini as the Swiss Army Knife of connected fleet cameras,” said Lee.
