Turkish Vehicle Sales Increase of More than 50 Percent
Turkey's passenger and and light commercial vehicle market has posted a combined 50.79 percent in the first six months of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014, according to the Otomotiv Distribütörleri Dernegi (ODD).
Turkey's passenger and and light commercial vehicle market has posted a combined 50.79 percent in the first six months of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014, according to the Otomotiv Distribütörleri Dernegi (ODD), the country's automotive distributors association, which consists of 30 members representing 47 automotive brands.
Total sales for the first six months of 2015 were 432,550 compared to 286,861 for the first six months of 2014. The light commercial vehicle market alone increased 71.4 percent in 2015 with 104,704 vehicles sold compared to 61,088 sold during the same period in 2014, according to ODD
Vans had the highest slaes volume (71.46 percent) with light trucks following at 12.28 percent. Minibuses had a 10.52 percent market share. Pickup trucks had the smallest share of the commercial vehicle market with 5.74 percent, according to ODD statistics.
The largest percentage (95.78 percent) of the passenger vehicle sales (95.78 percent) was for vehicles under 1600cc. This was followed by passenger cars between 1600 and 2000cc at 3.34 percent of the market. Passenger cars above 2000cc accounted for 0.87 percent of the market, according to ODD statistics.
The remainder of 2015 is expected to remain strong, according to ODD Executive Coordinator Hayri Erce, Ph.D.
"We forsee that the automotive industry's total market for the year 2015 to be between 900,000 and 950,000 in quantity," Erce said.
