Toyota Holds Webinar to Address Problem of Unintended Acceleration
The session on electronic throttle control systems - which are suspected of causing unintended acceleration in vehicles - featured two experts who discussed the technical aspects and testing methods involved with automotive electronic systems.
Toyota hosted a Webinar on Monday to provide information on its electronic throttle control systems, which are suspected of causing unintended acceleration in vehicles.
"Because automotive electronic systems and testing have emerged as high profile issues, we want to provide important background about how these systems work, how their failsafe logic provides numerous layers of safeguards, and the strenuous testing they undergo," said John Hanson, Toyota's national environmental safety and quality communications manager.
The session was led by Toyota's Paul Williamson, who reviewed electronic throttle control system operation and failsafe provisions, and Kristen Tabar, general manager of electronics engineering, who showed testing methods for electromagnetic and static discharge.
