In November 2024, what recalls are out there that you need to know about, and which ones might impact your fleet? Work Truck has the answers in this comprehensive overview of recent recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recalls are categorized as either pickup truck, van, and SUV recalls, or medium- and heavy-duty truck recalls, and the manufacturers are listed in alphabetical order.

Pickup Truck, Van & SUV

Chrysler

  • Recall Number: 86B

  • Vehicles: 2020-2023 Ram 1500

  • Potential Units Affected: 31,676

  • Component: Visibility

  • Breakdown: The mirror glass may detach from the driver's side heated trailer tow rearview mirror.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the mirror glass, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 5, 2024.

  • Recall Number: 97B

  • Vehicles: 2025 Ram 1500

  • Potential Units Affected: 33,777

  • Component: Wheels, electronic stability control (ESC)

  • Breakdown: The front wheel hub encoder rings may be damaged, which can disable the electronic stability control system. 

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and replace the front wheel bearing hub assembly, as necessary free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 19, 2024. 

Ford

  • Recall Number: 24S64

  • Vehicles: 2024 Ranger and 2024-2025 Bronco

  • Potential Units Affected: 2,416

  • Component: Suspension

  • Breakdown: The front upper control arm ball joint nut may not have been installed or tightened properly, allowing the front upper control arm to detach from the knuckle assembly.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and verify that the ball joint fastener is tightened properly. If a fastener is loose or missing, the dealer will replace the ball joint and knuckle assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on October 28, 2024. 

  • Recall Number: 24C33

  • Vehicles: 2024 Maverick

  • Potential Units Affected: 6

  • Component: Child seat

  • Breakdown: The second-row child seat tether anchors may not properly secure a child seat, due to incomplete thread engagement. 

  • Solution: Dealers will repair the tether anchorage points, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 2, 2024.

  • Recall Number: 24C34

  • Vehicles: 2025 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator

  • Potential Units Affected: 391

  • Component: Backover prevention

  • Breakdown: The rearview camera image may fail when the vehicle speed reaches 10 MPH or greater. 

  • Solution: The accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 2, 2024.

  • Recall Number: 24S67

  • Vehicles: 2023-2024 Ford Transit vehicles previously repaired under recall number 24V-102

  • Potential Units Affected: 808

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: Incorrect bolts may have been used to attach the rear axle shaft, which can lead to the rear wheel locking up or separating from the axle.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect the rear axle shaft bolts, replace incorrect bolts as necessary, and fill the differential fluid if needed, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 9, 2024.

  • Recall Number: 24S66

  • Vehicles: 2023-2024 F-250, F-350, and F-450

  • Potential Units Affected: 24,950

  • Component: Backover prevention, structure

  • Breakdown: Water may enter the Tailgate Park Assist Sensor Interface Module (TPASIM) and cause the rearview camera image to display intermittently or appear blue or black.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the tailgate top camera, wire harness, TPASIM module, and update the Image Processing Module A (IPMA) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 9, 2024.

General Motors

  • Recall Number: N242474560

  • Vehicles: 2024 GMC Sierra EV

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,962

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The front turn signal lights and parking lights may be too similar in brightness, making it difficult to see the front turn signals when they are activated.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the headlamp multipurpose LED driver (MLD) module, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 25, 2024.

  • Recall Number: N242474500

  • Vehicles: 018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2018-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 Crew Cab

  • Potential Units Affected: 2,061

  • Component: Air bags

  • Breakdown: The left or right-side roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator or the inflator sidewall may rupture.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 25, 2024.

  • Recall Number: N242477131

  • Vehicles: 2025 Chevrolet Blazer, Blazer EV, and Equinox vehicles

  • Potential Units Affected: 731

  • Component: Latches/locks/linkages

  • Breakdown: The door strikers were not properly heat-treated, which can cause them to break.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace all four side door strikers and attachment bolts, free of charge. All affected vehicles are still in dealership inventory and therefore no owner notification letters are expected to be mailed.

  • Recall Number: N242477760

  • Vehicles: 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty 4500HD, 5500HD, 6500HD

  • Potential Units Affected: 25

  • Component: Air bags

  • Breakdown: The air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) may not have been activated during installation.

  • Solution:A Navistar technician will activate the air bag module, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 18, 2024.

Toyota

  • Recall Number: 24TA12

  • Vehicles: Sequoia Hybrid, Tundra and Tundra Hybrid

  • Potential Units Affected: 11,890

  • Component: Tires

  • Breakdown: The passenger-side front and rear tires may have inner sidewall damage, which can cause a sudden loss of tire pressure.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and replace the tires as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 30, 2024.

Medium- & Heavy-Duty Recalls

Altec

  • Recall Number: CSN-3189

  • Vehicles: 2024 AT200A

  • Potential Units Affected: 37

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: Inadequate clearance between the hydraulic hoses and the engine exhaust manifold may result in the hoses overheating.

  • Solution: Altec will install a remedy kit to secure the hose routing farther away from the exhaust manifold, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 2, 2024.

Mack Trucks

  • Recall Number: SC0471

  • Vehicles: 2019-2025 GR and 2018 GU Granite

  • Potential Units Affected: 49

  • Component: Tires

  • Breakdown: The tires may not have been DOT tested and confirmed to be sufficient for the vehicles.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and replace the tires as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 10, 2024.

  • Recall Number: SC0472

  • Vehicles: 2020-2025 Anthem, Granite, TerraPro and Pinnacle

  • Potential Units Affected: 60,450

  • Component: Service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system

  • Breakdown: Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.

  • Solution: Dealers will reprogram the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 13, 2024.

McNeilus

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2010-2024 Rear Loader

  • Potential Units Affected: 431

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The license plate light was installed in the wrong location and may not fully illuminate the license plate.

  • Solution: Dealers will relocate the light free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 13, 2024.

Motiv

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2021-2024 E-450 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 4 EPIC powertrain.

  • Potential Units Affected: 40

  • Component: Electrical system

  • Breakdown: A wire connection point could loosen, causing a loss of 12-volt control power to the high voltage (HV) batteries.

  • Solution: Motiv field support technicians will inspect and replace the 12-volt control cable as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 11, 2024.

Multiquip

  • Recall Number: TL20160921

  • Vehicles: 2010-2016 TRLR-55348, 2012-2015 TRLR-55164, and 2013 TRLR-57615 trailers

  • Potential Units Affected: 92

  • Component: Structure

  • Breakdown: The frame welds may crack or break, reducing the trailer's stability while being towed.

  • Solution: Multiquip will mail instructions and reinforcement plates, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Oct. 21, 2024.

Orange EV

  • Recall Number: 2024-SRC-01

  • Vehicles: 2017-2024 T-Series and 2023-2024 e-TRIEVER

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,334

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: The Emergency Response Guide (ERG), operator, maintenance, and service manuals incorrectly state that the emergency stop button in the vehicle cab will shut off and lock out the high voltage system.

  • Solution: OEV will provide corrected ERG, operator, and maintenance manuals and add additional warning labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 20, 2024.

Paccar

  • Recall Number: 24KWH and 24PBH

  • Vehicles: 2025 Kenworth C500, T680, T800, T880, W900, W990, Peterbilt 567, 579, and 589 trucks, equipped with Cummins X15 diesel engines.

  • Potential Units Affected: 5,690

  • Component: Fuel system, diesel

  • Breakdown: The fuel pump barrels may fracture and cause a fuel leak, which can result in an engine stall.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the fuel pump barrels, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 22, 2024.

Terex 

  • Recall Number: SN732

  • Vehicles: 2023-2024 TL80, TL80/112, TL100, and TM

  • Potential Units Affected: 37

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: The jib extension hydraulic cylinder rod may have a weak weld that can fail.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the jib extension cylinders, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Nov. 22, 2024.

Vermeer

  • Recall Number: VMV0095

  • Vehicles: 2024-2025 VXT600G2

  • Potential Units Affected: 21

  • Component: Structure

  • Breakdown: Undersized welds on the lift supports may fail, allowing the spoil tank door to open.

  • Solution: Dealers will repair the lift support welds, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 19, 2024.

Volvo

  • Recall Number: RVXX2408

  • Vehicles: 2022-2024 Volvo VN

  • Potential Units Affected: 2,098

  • Component: Vehicle speed control, electrical system

  • Breakdown: When the Controller Area Network (CAN) communications are interrupted and the vehicle is in limp mode, an incorrect accelerator pedal signal can result in unintended acceleration. 

  • Solution: Dealers will update the electronic control unit (ECU) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 22, 2024.

  • Recall Number: RVXX2409

  • Vehicles: 2020-2025 VN, VAH, VHD and VNRE trucks, equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU).

  • Potential Units Affected: 126,649

  • Component: Electrical system, service brakes, hydraulic

  • Breakdown: Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.

  • Solution: Dealers will reprogram the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 13, 2024.

  • Recall Number: RVXX2410

  • Vehicles: 2025 New VN

  • Potential Units Affected: 1

  • Component: Service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system

  • Breakdown: A software error in the instrument cluster may cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning light not to illuminate.

  • Solution: A dealer will reprogram the software, free of charge.
