In July 2024, what recalls are out there that you need to know about, and which ones might impact your fleet? Work Truck has the answers in this comprehensive overview of recent recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recalls are categorized as either pickup truck, van, and SUV recalls or medium- and heavy-duty truck recalls and the manufacturers are listed in alphabetical order.

Pickup Truck, Van & SUV

Chrysler

  • Recall Number: 63B

  • Vehicles: 2023 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500

  • Potential Units Affected: 214

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: An insufficient weld in the transmission control unit can allow transmission fluid to leak on to electrical components, resulting in a loss of drive power or loss of park function.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the valve body and control unit, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expecting to be mailed July 26, 2024.

  • Recall Number: 55B

  • Vehicles: 2022 Dodge Durango and Ram 2500 and 3500

  • Potential Units Affected: 211,581

  • Component: Electronic stability control, service brakes, air

  • Breakdown: Due to a software malfunction, the ABS control module may disable the electronic stability control system.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the ABS control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expecting to be mailed July 26, 2024.

  • Recall Number: 53B

  • Vehicles: 2021-2024 Ram Promaster

  • Potential Units Affected: 266

  • Component: Structure, seats, equipment

  • Breakdown: The vehicles are missing a side door beam, and the tire placard contains incorrect seating capacity information.

  • Solution: Dealers will install a door beam and apply an overlay label, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expecting to be mailed July 26, 2024.

  • Recall Number: 66B and 79B

  • Vehicles: 2021-2022 Dodge Durango, 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 2022 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, Chrysler Voyager, 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and Ram Promaster

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,033,433

  • Component: Backover prevention

  • Breakdown: The radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the radio software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 2, 2024.

  • Vehicles: 2022 Ram 1500 Classic

  • Potential Units Affected: 1

  • Component: Backover prevention

  • Breakdown: The wiring harness may short circuit and prevent the rearview image from displaying.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the wiring harness, free of charge. The vehicle has been remedied.

Driverage

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2023-2024 Ford T-350 vehicles with certain GO-ES Space Saver Foldaway Seats

  • Potential Units Affected: 41

  • Component: Seats

  • Breakdown: The recliner mechanism may not engage when the seat back is fully reclined.x

  • Solution: Driverge will work with the equipment manufacturer to inspect and repair the seats as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 13, 2024.

Ford

  • Recall Number: 24S38

  • Vehicles: 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with the Onboard Scales

  • Potential Units Affected: 159

  • Component: Electrical system, exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: An over-the-air software update to the body control module (BCM) may have disabled both reverse lights.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the body control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 26, 2024.

  • Recall Number: 24S37

  • Vehicles: 2014 F-150

  • Potential Units Affected: 552,188

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: A loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 1, 2024.

Nissan

  • Recall Number: PD109

  • Vehicles: 2024 Frontier

  • Potential Units Affected: 5,929

  • Component: Suspension, steering

  • Breakdown: The front right-side lower link may have been manufactured with an oversized ball joint, which can result in corrosion and ball joint separation from the front right-side lower link.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the front right-side lower link, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 15, 2024.

Oshkosh

  • Recall Number: NGDV_TSB-001

  • Vehicles: Oshkosh Defense NGDV ICE

  • Potential Units Affected: 8

  • Component: Air bags

  • Breakdown: During supplier testing, the terminals in a wiring harness connector may have been deformed, possibly resulting in an insufficient electrical connection that can cause the air bags not to deploy as intended.

  • Solution: Oshkosh will inspect and replace the electrical connectors, or replace the wiring harness as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for owner notification.

Rivian

  • Recall Number: FSAM 1464

  • Vehicles: 2022-2024 R1T and R1S

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,723

  • Component: Air bags

  • Breakdown: The attachment clips on the upper B-pillar and/or C-pillar trim panels may have been damaged during a service procedure.

  • Solution: Rivian will replace the pillar trim panels, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 26, 2024.

  • Recall Number: FSAM-1491

  • Vehicles: 2022-2023 R1S and R1T

  • Potential Units Affected: 666

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: The maximum vehicle capacity weight value on the tire placard label is incorrect.

  • Solution: Rivian will mail owners a corrected overlay tire placard label, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 3, 2024.

Tesla

  • Recall Number: SB-24-17-006

  • Vehicles: 2024 Cybertruck

  • Potential Units Affected: 11,688

  • Component: Visibility

  • Breakdown: Excessive electrical current can cause the front windshield wiper motor controller to fail.

  • Solution: Tesla service will replace the wiper motor, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 18, 2024.

  • Recall Number: SB-24-12-006

  • Vehicles: 2024 Cybertruck

  • Potential Units Affected: 11,383

  • Component: Structure

  • Breakdown: The trunk bed trim sail applique could have been improperly adhered and can loosen.

  • Solution: Tesla service will apply adhesion promoter and pressure sensitive tape or replace missing applique as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 18, 2024.

Toyota

  • Recall Number: 24TB07/24TA07 and 24LB04/24LA04

  • Vehicles: 2022-2023 Tundra and Lexus LX600 vehicles equipped with a V35A engine

  • Potential Units Affected: 102,092

  • Component: Engine and engine cooling

  • Breakdown: Debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail, which can result in an engine stall and loss of drive power.

  • Solution: The remedy is currently under development. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 15, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the remedy is available.

Medium- & Heavy-Duty Recalls

Altec

  • Recall Number: CSN-3161

  • Vehicles: 2023-2024 aerial devices, digger diggers, pressure diggers, service trucks, reel lifters, pressure washers, and articulating crane models built on a Freightliner M2 Plus chassis

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,500

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The lighting wire harness may be overloaded, preventing the vehicle lighting from illuminating.

  • Solution: Dealers will rework the lighting wire harness and update the trailer module as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 12, 2024.

Autocar

  • Recall Number: ACX-2402 and DC-2405

  • Vehicles: 2023-2024 ACX (Xpeditor) and DC (Legend)

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,374

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: The axle lock nut may be improperly secured, allowing the wheel end to separate.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and secure or replace the lock nut, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 26, 2024.

Daimler Truck

  • Recall Number: F1002

  • Vehicles: 2025 Freightliner Custom Chassis MC, MT45, MT45G, MT55, S2C 106, S2RV 106, XBS, XCM, XCP, XCR, XCS, Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, Business Class M2, Western Star 47X, 49X, 57X, and Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2

  • Potential Units Affected: 285

  • Component: Wheels

  • Breakdown: The wheel hub fasteners may loosen and cause the wheel to detach, which can result in a loss of vehicle control.

  • Solution: The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 30, 2024.

  • Recall Number: D24R6

  • Vehicles: 2025 Freightliner Cascadia, 108SD, 114SD, Business Class M2, Western Star 47X, 49X, Freightliner Custom Chassis S2RV 106, and S2C 106

  • Potential Units Affected: 540

  • Component: Steering

  • Breakdown: The front axle tie rod ball joint studs may crack and break, which can result in tie rod separation.

  • Solution: The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 3, 2024.

Isuzu

  • Recall Number: V2402

  • Vehicles: 2025 FTR

  • Potential Units Affected: 38

  • Component: Steering

  • Breakdown: The tie rod assemblies may contain ball studs that have been incorrectly heat-treated, which can cause them to break, and possibly result in tie rod failure.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and replace the tie rod and center link assembly, as necessary, free of charge. All affected vehicles are still within dealer inventory and therefore no owner notification letters will be mailed.

Mack Trucks

  • Recall Number: SC0465

  • Vehicles: 2025 Mack AN, GR, and TE

  • Potential Units Affected: 860

  • Component: Steering

  • Breakdown: The drag link may contain an improperly heat-treated ball stud that can fail, resulting in a sudden loss of steering control.

  • Solution: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will inspect and replace the drag links, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 20, 2024.

  • Recall Number: SC0464

  • Vehicles: 2024 MMDe

  • Potential Units Affected: 24

  • Component: Electrical system

  • Breakdown: The battery management system software may cause the high-voltage battery to shut down, which can result in a sudden loss of steering control and drive power.

  • Solution: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will update the battery management system software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 2, 2024.

  • Recall Number: SC0466

  • Vehicles: 2025 Anthem and Pinnacle

  • Potential Units Affected: 7

  • Component: Powertrain, steering

  • Breakdown: The tie rod assemblies may contain an improperly heat-treated ball stud that can fail, resulting in a sudden loss of steering control.

  • Solution: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will inspect and replace the tie rod ends as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 17, 2024.

  • Recall Number: SC0467

  • Vehicles: 2024 MD

  • Potential Units Affected: 24

  • Component: Electrical system

  • Breakdown: An incorrectly assembled high voltage connector could prevent the mechanical connector lock from properly engaging, allowing the high voltage cable to loosen.

  • Solution: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will inspect and repair the mechanical connector lock as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 2, 2024

  • Recall Number: 24509

  • Vehicles: 2025 International HV, LT, MV, and RH

  • Potential Units Affected: 116

  • Breakdown: Tie rod assemblies may contain ball studs that may have been incorrectly heat-treated, which can cause them to break, and possibly result in tie rod failure.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the tie rod ends and realign the front axle, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 12, 2024.

Paccar

  • Recall Number: 24KWG and 24PBG

  • Vehicles: 2025 Kenworth K270, K370, T280, T380, T480, T680, T880, W900, W990, 2025 Peterbilt 220, 536, 537, 548, 567, 579, and 589

  • Potential Units Affected: 3,887

  • Component: Steering

  • Breakdown: The tie rod or drag link assembly may contain an improperly heat-treated ball stud, causing the ball stud to break.

  • Solution: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will inspect and replace the tie rod and drag link assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 11, 2024.

Terex

  • Recall Number: SN728

  • Vehicles: 2022-2023 TM

  • Potential Units Affected: 121

  • Component: Electrical system, equipment

  • Breakdown: The master leveling controller may lose the ability to level the platform if power is lost while squeezing the enable trigger.

  • Solution: Dealers will reprogram or replace the leveling controller, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 9, 2024.

Volvo Trucks

  • Recall Number: RVXX2402

  • Vehicles: 2025 VN, VNRe, and VHD

  • Potential Units Affected: 3,502

  • Component: Steering

  • Breakdown: The drag link may contain an improperly heat-treated ball stud that can fail, resulting in a sudden loss of steering control.

  • Solution: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the repair has been performed. Dealers will inspect and replace the drag links, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 20, 2024.

  • Recall Number: RVXX2403

  • Vehicles: 2025 VN and VHD

  • Potential Units Affected: 424

  • Component: Steering

  • Breakdown: The steering gear may have an improperly seated plug in the valve housing, which can result in a sudden loss of steering control.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect the plug and replace the steering gear as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 17, 2024.
