In December 2025, what recalls are out there that you need to know about, and which ones might impact your fleet? Work Truck has the answers in this comprehensive overview of recent recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recalls are categorized as either pickup truck, van, and SUV recalls, or medium- and heavy-duty truck recalls, and the manufacturers are listed in alphabetical order.

Pickup Truck, Van & SUV

Chrysler

  • Recall Number: 14C

  • Vehicles: 2021-2022 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram 4500, and Ram 5500 

  • Potential Units Affected: 532

  • Component: Air bags, steering

  • Breakdown: The steering column control module may cause the driver's side air bag not to deploy as intended.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the steering column control module, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec.11, 2025.

  • Recall Number: 78C

  • Vehicles: 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and 2024-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) 

  • Potential Units Affected: 112,859

  • Component: Engine

  • Breakdown: Debris inside the engine may cause engine failure, which can result in a loss of drive power and/or an engine compartment fire.

  • Solution: The remedy is currently under development. Interim notification letters explaining the safety risk are expected to be mailed Dec. 29, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. 

Ford

  • Recall Number: 25SC3

  • Vehicles: 2025-2026 Bronco and Bronco Sport

  • Potential Units Affected: 229,609

  • Component: Electrical system

  • Breakdown: The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) may fail at startup.

  • Solution: The instrument panel cluster software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 8, 2025.

  • Recall Number: 25SC4

  • Vehicles: 2020-2024 Ford Escape and 2021-2024 Lincoln Corsair plug-in hybrid

  • Potential Units Affected: 20,558

  • Component: Electrical system

  • Breakdown: A manufacturing defect in one or more of the high voltage battery cells may result in an internal short circuit and battery failure.

  • Solution: The remedy is currently under development. Owners are advised to only use "Auto EV" mode and will be instructed by mail to limit the maximum charge of the battery until the remedy has been completed. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, and instructions to limit the maximum charge of the battery were expected to be mailed Dec. 1, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available.

  • Recall Number: 25SC7

  • Vehicles: 2021 E-350 and E-450

  • Potential Units Affected: 7,046

  • Component: Engine

  • Breakdown: The engine cover may become excessively hot.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the powertrain calibration for heat management under elevated idle conditions, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 5, 2025. 

General Motors

  • Recall Number: N252524530

  • Vehicles: 026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV

  • Potential Units Affected: 354

  • Component: Air bags

  • Breakdown: The front passenger air bag connection may have an improperly crimped wire, which can result in the air bag failing to deploy as intended.

  • Solution: Dealers will install a jumper harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 22, 2025.

Medium- & Heavy-Duty Recalls

Cemen Tech

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2018-2025 Volumetric Mixer Custom M60, 2020-2025 Volumetric Mixer C60E, Volumetric Mixer C60, and 2023-2024 Volumetric Mixer C60T

  • Potential Units Affected: 887

  • Component: Structure

  • Breakdown: The mounting plates and swivel hopper ring gusset may crack and separate, allowing the mixer assembly to separate from the vehicle.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect the gussets and mount plates for cracks or separation, and provide a replacement mixer hopper assembly as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notifications.

Daimler Trucks

  • Recall Number: F1027

  • Vehicles: 2020-2026 Western Star 49X, Freightliner Business Class M2, Freightliner 114SD, Freightliner 108SD, 2021-2026 Western Star 47X, 2021-2023 Freightliner 122SD, 2022 Western Star 48X, and 2023 Western Star 4700

  • Potential Units Affected: 18,783

  • Component: Suspension

  • Breakdown: The axle clamp fasteners may be loose, which can result in a loss of vehicle control.

  • Solution: The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan.3, 2026.

General Motors

  • Recall Number: N252531990

  • Vehicles:2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD

  • Potential Units Affected: 891

  • Component: Service brakes, hydraulic

  • Breakdown: These vehicles were remedied under NHTSA Recall 25V390 with a brake jumper wire harness that was assembled without protective tape. A wiring harness that is missing protective tape can allow the wires to become damaged.

  • Solution: Dealers will remove the installed wire harness, apply protective tape, and reinstall the wire harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters are planned to be mailed Dec. 22, 2025. 

International

  • Recall Number: 25524

  • Vehicles: 2023-2026 LT and RH

  • Potential Units Affected: 11,418

  • Component: Service brakes, air

  • Breakdown: The auto neutral function may not recognize that the parking brake has been applied, failing to shift the transmission into neutral.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the quick release valve on the rear axle, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 19, 2026. 

  • Recall Number: 25521

  • Vehicles: 2019-2020 CV

  • Potential Units Affected: 159

  • Component: Parking brake

  • Breakdown: The brake pressure switch harness may not have protective material on the wires, causing a short circuit and reducing brake performance.

  • Solution: Dealers will remove, add protective material, and reinstall the brake pressure switch harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed Dec. 1, 2025.

  • Recall Number: 25522

  • Vehicles: 2023-2026 LT and 2024-2025 RH 

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,303

  • Component: Service brakes, air

  • Breakdown: The Hill Start Assist (HSA) exhaust port may become clogged, delaying or preventing the release of the service brakes.

  • Solution: Dealers will relocate the HSA valve exhaust, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 12, 2026.

Mack Trucks

  • Recall Number: SC0489

  • Vehicles: 2025-2026 Pioneer

  • Potential Units Affected: 46

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: The load lock clamps, located on the back of the cab, may loosen and cause the load lock bars to become unsecured.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the load lock clamps, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 15, 2026.

  • Recall Number: SC0488

  • Vehicles: 2026 Anthem and 2025-2026 Pioneer 

  • Potential Units Affected: 247

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The automatic high beams (AHB) may not switch to low beam headlights as intended.

  • Solution: As an interim action, Mack will update the vehicle software through an over-the-air (OTA) update to disable the AHB feature, free of charge. The final remedy is under development. Interim owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 17, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available.

McNeilus Truck

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2024-2025 Volterra side loader

  • Potential Units Affected: 115

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The intermediate side reflex reflectors may be missing.

  • Solution: McNeilus will install the side reflectors, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 22, 2025. 

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2021-2025 Metro Pak

  • Potential Units Affected: 70

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The side and rear reflex reflectors and rear clearance lights may be missing.

  • Solution: McNeilus will install the side reflectors and lights, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 22, 2025. 

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2024-2025 Volterra ZSL side loader

  • Potential Units Affected: 139

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: A software error may cause the grabber fingers to move without input from the operator.

  • Solution: McNeilus will update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 9, 2026.

Paccar

  • Recall Number: 25PACH

  • Vehicles: 2026 Peterbilt 567 and 589

  • Potential Units Affected: 62

  • Component: Service brakes, air

  • Breakdown: The air tanks have an insufficient volume of air for the brake system.

  • Solution: Dealers will install the correct volume air tanks, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 16, 2026.

Scranton Manufacturing

  • Recall Number: N/A

  • Vehicles: 2025 New Way side and front loader

  • Potential Units Affected: 38

  • Component: Fuel system, other

  • Breakdown: The manual cylinder valves in the CNG fuel system may develop stress corrosion cracks in the bottom plugged port, causing a leak.

  • Solution: The remedy is currently under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification.

Volvo Trucks

  • Recall Number: RVXX2512

  • Vehicles: 2024-2026 VNL

  • Potential Units Affected: 1,859

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: The load lock clamps, located on the back of the cab, may loosen and cause the load lock bars to become unsecured.

  • Solution: Dealers will replace the load lock clamps, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan.15, 2026.

  • Recall Number: RVXX2511

  • Vehicles: 2026 VNR and 2024-2026 VNL

  • Potential Units Affected: 4,887

  • Component: Exterior lighting

  • Breakdown: The automatic high beams (AHB) may not switch to low beam headlights as intended.
