INDIANAPOLIS - Fleet managers can drive work trucks and vans fueled by propane autogas at the 2011 Work Truck Show through March 10 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
One of the vehicles on display in the Propane Pavilion (booth No. 5085) is a Ford E-350 cargo van equipped with a Roush CleanTech liquid propane autogas injection system and a CleanFuel USA propane autogas refueling dispenser on a portable platform, complete with 500-gallon tank provided by FerrellAutogas. The E-350 fueled by propane autogas is part of a line of trucks and vans developed with support from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), which operates one of the world?s largest sustained propane research and development programs.
Work trucks and vans fueled by propane autogas will also be available in the Green Truck Ride-and-Drive at the show from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 8 and 9. Representatives from PERC, AmeriGas, CleanFuel USA, FerrellAutogas, Heritage Propane, and Roush CleanTech, and the propane industry will be in the Propane Pavilion to discuss the products.
“Durability, performance, and achieving sustainability goals are important considerations when choosing a clean fuel and its accompanying work truck options, said Brian Feehan, vice president of PERC. “Vehicles fueled by propane autogas are available to meet these goals and can be easily to incorporated into fleets. Propane autogas refueling infrastructure is cost effective and offers many options to fleet managers.”
More than 15 million vehicles globally are fueled by propane autogas, including pickup trucks, vans, school buses, shuttles, taxis, and delivery vehicles. Ninety percent of U.S. propane supplies are produced in the United States.
Propane autogas burns cleaner than gasoline or diesel, with up to 20 percent less nitrogen oxide, up to 60 percent less carbon monoxide, 17 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions, and fewer particulate emissions, which can help fleets meet sustainability goals. The Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 offers a 50-cent-per-gallon fuel tax credit for propane autogas for on-road vehicles through 2011, enhancing the cost effectiveness of propane autogas vehicles.
The Green Truck Ride-and-Drive, part of the Work Truck Show, will give fleet operators the opportunity to experience the performance and handling of hybrid and alternative-fuel technologies for commercial vehicles. Vehicles fueled by propane autogas in the Green Truck Ride-and-Drive includes a Ford F-350 fueled by propane autogas developed with Roush CleanTech.
The Work Truck Show and the Green Truck Ride-and-Drive are productions of the National Truck Equipment Association.
