WASHINGTON - The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) will host the 2010 Propane Engine Fuel Summit - highlighting a comprehensive program in on-and-off road propane vehicles and applications as well as the latest developments in propane technology - March 3-4, in Chantilly, Va., and Webcast live online.

Today, propane fuels more than 14 million on-road vehicles worldwide. Clean-burning propane is an increasingly attractive, cost-saving alternative to gasoline and diesel for business fleet owners. It is the third most commonly used engine fuel, after gasoline and diesel in the United States.

The 2010 summit will bring together leading manufacturers of vehicles, dispensing equipment, fuel tanks, and turnkey operations as well as government officials to discuss propane as a vehicle fuel. Attendees and online viewers will hear directly from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Roger Howsmon, chief marketing officer at Blue Bird Corp.; Kent Tyler, president of Collins Bus; and Roy Willis, president and CEO of PERC. They will also hear from customers already using the new technologies in their fleets and businesses.

Working in partnership with OEMs, producers, and suppliers, PERC has made a significant commitment to funding propane-fueled products. The summit will emphasize the propane industry's research and development efforts to bring more propane powered products to the market. On-road vehicles include propane-fueled school buses, police cruisers, and taxicabs. Commercial off-road propane applications include forklifts and lawn mowers.

Sponsors of the 2010 Propane Engine Fuel Summit include Roush Performance, AmeriGas, Ferrellgas, Heritage Propane, and the Virginia Propane Gas Association.

Participating in the summit will be representatives from Toyota, Mitsubishi, Caterpillar, Kohler, Dixie Chopper, Ferris, Cub Cadet, Lehr Industries, EnviroGard, and other firms.

Registration for online participation is free but required; sign up by visiting www.propaneenginefuelsummit.com.
