The three trucks are built on the Ford E-450 chassis powered by Phoenix Motorcars and will serve the City of Salinas in their fleet department.

Phoenix Z500 Trucks

Phoenix has been in medium-duty truck electrification for over a decade.

Its Phoenix Z500 trucks are equipped with a 94-kWh battery pack offering up to a 110-mile range and can be fully charged in approximately two to three hours with a 50-kW Level III charger.

Compared to gas and diesel trucks, Z500 trucks have the potential to reduce atmospheric emissions by around 61 tons per vehicle annually. Plus, they reduce maintenance costs by 75% and fuel costs by 80%.

Phoenix has 4 million all-electric miles driven on its zero-emission drive systems.

“Phoenix Motorcars is proud of our commitment to sustainable vehicle technology, and our project to bring the first zero-emission trucks to the City of Salinas” says Thomas Allen, Vice President of Sales for Phoenix Motorcars.

Electric Truck Charging

Recently, moved into the bidirectional charging space. The company signed an Equipment Testing Agreement with Fermata Energy LLC.

Phoenix’s zero-emission drive system will pair with Fermata Energy’s V2X (vehicle-to-everything) bidirectional chargers and AI-driven software platform.

Once completed, Phoenix’s customers with zero-emission drive systems can earn revenue while their vehicles are parked either from their local utility (V2G) or avoid costly peak demand charges by sending energy to their building (V2B).
