The Production Engine Remanufacturers Association (PERA) held its 74th annual conference in San Diego, Calif. Sept. 18-20, 2019.
“Our impressive list of speakers delivered all we asked to help our members understand the ‘Future of the Industry’ and to set their minds to ease that the gasoline and diesel engines will be here for remanufacturing for quite some time. It’s an exciting time to be part of PERA and the industry meeting the challenges OE is throwing our way every year. The cooperation and sharing of information among the members are what makes for a stronger association and stronger industry and the program in San Diego excelled at that,” said Joe Polich, executive vice president for PERA.
The annual conference was attended by 198 people, a record-setting year for the association. More than 15 educational sessions took place at the event with a specific focus on “The Future of the Industry.” Work Truck’s executive editor, Lauren Fletcher, spoke at the event on “What’s Happening in the MD Diesel Market.”
Attendees of this event at focused on engine remanufacturing. According to PERA, “manufacturing is the process of returning a used, worn out engine to as close to new as possible. The engine is completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected, remachined, reassembled and tested to insure functional quality.”
Additional sessions focused on machining diesel engines, 3D printing, fuel cells, and engine-specific sessions.
Next year’s event will take place Sept. 23-25, 2020, in Greenville, S.C.
