Nissan will offer a crew cab model of its 2016 Titan XD as the first available model of the refreshed full-size pickup when it becomes available later this year, Nissan has announced.
Nissan will offer the Titan XD in five trim levels, including the S, SV, PRO-4X, SL, and Platinum reserve models. The Titan is getting a long-overdue refresh for 2016. The truck enters its second generation, after its introduction with the 2003 model year.
The Titan will initially be available with only one engine option — a Cummins 5.0-liter V-8 turbo diesel that makes 310 hp and 555 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine delivers power through a heavy-duty 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission.
Nissan plans to eventually offer an extended cab and regular cab model of its refreshed pickup, and plans to sell a gasoline-powered Titan in the spring.
In related news, Nissan is adding a few enhancements to its Frontier mid-size pickup for 2016, including three exterior colors (Sunset Orange, Gun Metallic, and Magnetic Black) and discontinuing three colors (Metallic Blue, Night Armor, and Super Black). The Frontier Crew Cab SV will now come with a standard moon roof.
Nissan is also discontinuing its Xterra compact SUV after the 2015 model year.
