Nissan to Offer Cummins V-8 Turbo Diesel in Next-Gen Titan Pickup

Nissan plans to equip its next-generation Titan pickup truck with a new Cummins V-8 turbo diesel engine. The engine is a 5.0L Turbo Diesel that can produce more than 300 hp and has a torque rating in the mid-500 lb.-ft. range, Nissan stated. The automaker added that Cummins is also developing a version of this engine for its commercial vehicle customers.
The Cummins 5.0L V-8 Turbo Diesel will be built at the Columbus Engine Plant in Columbus, Ind., where Cummins is headquartered.
Other changes planned for the next-generation Titan pickup include cab-and-box configurations in order to broaden its appeal, according to Nissan.
The automaker hasn’t announced launch dates for the next-gen Titan but did state that prototype trucks powered by the new Cummins V-8 are undergoing testing on public highways.
