NHTSA Campaigns Against Impaired Driving
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a public awareness campaign to stop alcohol- and drug-impaired driving. The campaign, which includes television, radio, and digital ads, will run nationwide through Sept. 3, the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a public awareness campaign to stop alcohol- and drug-impaired driving. The campaign, which includes television, radio, and digital ads, will run nationwide through Sept. 3, the Labor Day holiday weekend.
The new safety campaign features the slogan: If You Feel Different You Drive Different. Drive High, Get a DUI. It began on Aug. 15.
The initiative builds on NHTSA's annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign and marks the first time drug-impaired driving is part of the national ad campaign effort.
Based on research, NHTSA timed the campaign to debut specifically around the Labor Day weekend. Summertime remains one of the deadliest periods on U.S. roadways. For example, between Memorial Day and Labor Day of 2016, more than 1,050 people lost their lives in crashes involving teenage drivers. That translates into 10 fatalities each day — a 14% increase compared to the remainder of the year, according to the AAA Foundation.
