Mullen Automotive, Inc., an electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially sold 22 EV cargo vans to the Randy Marion Automotive Group. The $308,000 is the company’s first recorded revenue and is being recognized in the quarter ending June 30, 2023.
All vehicles are in queue to be shipped, with the first vehicles shipping today, June 29, 2023, from Mullen’s Tunica, Mississippi, assembly plant to Randy Marion Automotive Group in North Carolina. Randy Marion is the authorized distributor of Mullen’s commercial EVs in the U.S.
MGT Leasing and Electric Vehicle Options from Mullen
In May 2023, Mullen Automotive, Inc., an electric vehicle manufacturer, announced the signing of a vehicle purchase agreement with MGT Lease Company to purchase 250 all-electric commercial Class 3 cab chassis EV trucks. The vehicle orders will be fulfilled through Randy Marion Automotive Group, a distributor of Mullen’s commercial EVs.
The contract is valued at $15,755,000. The vehicles are slated for delivery beginning in August 2023, with complete fulfillment of the purchase agreement occurring by December 2023.
MGT’s primary customer base focuses on last-mile segments, such as package delivery and retail, and such vocations as plumbing and electrical. MGT currently provides commercial vehicle sales and leasing across all major OEM brands, with a focus on light- and medium-duty Class 1-4 commercial vehicles.
MGT will purchase Mullen’s all-electric Class 3 EV cab chassis truck, the Mullen THREE, for its short- and long-term fleet leasing portfolio focused on small, medium, and enterprise businesses.
MGT is a Mullen Automotive repeat customer, initially purchasing EV cargo vans from Mullen in March 2023 and now expanding into the larger Class 3 cab chassis EV trucks with an initial order of 250 units, demonstrating the demand for this premium commercial truck. MGT’s order follows Randy Marion’s initial order for 1,000 units placed in early May 2023.
“We are very happy with the Mullen EV cargo van and have received great customer feedback and are now looking forward to expanding into Mullen’s commercial class 3 truck,” said Greg Striker, partner at MGT Lease Co.
Large Order Placed by Randy Marion Automotive Group
Additionally in May, a 1,000-vehicle order was placed by the Randy Marion Automotive Group, with deliveries commencing in August 2023, 22 of which are noted above. The purchase order is valued at $63 million and is between Randy Marion Isuzu, LLC, a member of the Randy Marion Automotive Group, and Mullen Automotive.
The Mullen Three is a medium-duty, Class 3 low-cab forward electric truck with a turning diameter of 38 feet and improved visibility and maneuverability on narrow city streets.
The chassis provides a clean top-of-rail for upfitting with bodies up to 14 feet long and over 5,800 pounds of payload. In addition, Mullen noted the design of the LCF chassis allows more cargo volume within a given overall length.
“We continue to receive great interest for Mullen’s commercial vehicles, especially the Class 3 cab chassis,” said Brad Sigmon, Fleet GM and vice president of RMA Fleet Operations.

UNC Charlotte has now purchased 15 Campus EV cargo vans, fulfilling UNC’s second order commencing on May 1, 2023. UNC’s first order of seven Mullen EV cargo vans were delivered in March 2023.
UNC Charlotte, North Carolina’s urban research university, founded in 1946, purchased the Mullen EV cargo vans for use across its 1,000-acre Charlotte campus and more than 29,500 students.
The electric cargo vans are used for various university use cases, including campus delivery and facility services.
“We are very impressed with the first set of Mullen EV vans for our on-campus use,” said T.J. Woods, the university’s transportation, warehouse, and logistics manager. “Ordering additional Mullen EV cargo vans makes perfect sense for us. There’s a lower cost of ownership, no messy fill-ups, tailpipe exhaust, or disruptive vehicle idling sounds to impact our daily campus life. Mullen Campus EVs are also great to highlight to our students, as it shows we can all make a difference in lowering our overall carbon footprint.”
Looking at Mullens Electric Vehicle Lineup
Mullen’s commercial EV lineup includes Class 1 cargo vans, Class 3 cab chassis offerings, and Bollinger Motors Class 4-6 chassis products.
Mullen’s commercial vehicle lineup will be manufactured out of the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center, located just outside Tunica, Mississippi.
In December of 2022, Mullen Automotive acquired electric delivery van maker, ELMS, after announcing the acquisition of Bollinger Motors in September.
