Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation will deliver 10 light-duty Canter trucks to support medical emergency care in Tajikistan, through an aid project overseen by the Japanese government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) program.

The Fusos are 4x4 FG double cabs that will help support transporting multiple medical personnel throughout the challenging and hilly regions of Tajikstan. They are equipped with specially configured van bodies that house storage areas for medical equipment, allowing the trucks to serve as moving clinics or as primary points of emergency care. The back of the vans feature ramps to allow easier entries for patients on stretchers. The Fusos feature powerful 4x4 drives and are robust so they can operate in a wide range of environments, from cities to more rural areas. These  vehicles are expected to provide much needed material support in a time when Tajikstan’s health system is faltering under the coronavirus pandemic.

The Japanese ODA program is overseen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was created with the intention of providing aid in the form of supplies, financial loans, and personnel training to countries in need. MFTBC has been involved in several ODA projects from the past, delivering vehicles to locations such as Burkina Faso, Rwanda, and Tonga. As one of Asia’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers active in over 170 markets worldwide, Mitsubishi Fuso is committed to fulfilling its role as a responsible corporate citizen.

Marc Niefer, Head of Customer Services Trucks Asia, said, "We are honored that our products will contribute to international medical care through the Japanese ODA project under the recent global pandemic. We hope that this will strengthen emergency medical services throughout Tajikistan and contribute to the further development of regional medical care.”
