CERRITOS, CA – Isuzu Commercial Truck of America has announced the availability of its 2008 F-Series line-up of Class 6, 7, and 8 low-cab-forward trucks. The new trucks feature increased horsepower and more wheelbases to meet a larger range of medium-duty applications. The F-Series is offered in three models: FTR and FVR single-axle trucks have a 25,950-pound GVW, and FXR models are available as single-axle trucks with a 33,000-pound GVWR or as tandem-axle units with a 56,000-pound GVW.
The Isuzu 6H diesel engine in the FTR and FVR has been increased from 210 to 215 horsepower with 560 lb-ft. of torque. The FXR diesel engine has been increased from 250 to 260 horsepower for the single-axle version and from 275 to 300 horsepower for the tandem-axle model. All F-Series diesel engines meet the 2007 Federal Emissions Regulations with technology that has been tested and proven on vehicles operating in Japan for the past three years.
F-Series wheelbases are now available from 152 inches to 260 inches to accommodate 16-foot to 32-foot bodies. Previous wheelbases ranged from 170 inches to 236 inches. Allison 2550 six-speed automatic transmissions are standard on the FTR and FVR models. Allison 3000 and 3500 six-speed transmissions are standard on the FXR single-axle and tandem-axle models, respectively.
According to Todd Bloom, vice president, marketing for Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, “By greatly expanding the selection of wheelbases and increasing the horsepower in our 2008 F-Series line, we will meet the demands of more vocations, including heavier duty applications in furniture, white goods and manufacturing areas.”
