Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla Among Five 'Best Picks' in Insurer Group Crash Tests

The Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla were among five cars named "best pick" in an insurer group's crash tests, Bloomberg News reported. Bloomberg News also reported that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) said vehicles include the 2003 Accord and Corolla, and 2002 models of the Audi A4 sedan, Suzuki Aerio and Mini Cooper. The tests involve a 40 mile-per-hour crash at an angle into a barrier, Bloomberg added. According to Bloomberg News, the IIHS tests assess how well a vehicle absorbs the energy of a crash and limits injuries to occupants, and the insurer-funded group said its assessments complement the government's 35-mph crash tests. The "best picks" are chosen from vehicles that earn the group's "good" top ranking, the report added.
