General Motors Corporation's Oldsmobile division on Jan. 23 set a U.S. base price of $34,167 on the all-wheel-drive version of the all-new 2002 Bravada mid-size sport utility vehicle, which is to go on sale in March. A two-wheel-drive version, available for the first time, will be priced starting at $31,635. Both prices do not include a destination freight charge of $600. The 2002 Bravada also will be covered with an extended 60-month/60,000-mile protection plan which runs through April 15. The extended protection plan is being offered by GM to shore up confidence in the Oldsmobile brand, which GM plans to discontinue within the next few years. The service plan is also available to customers who purchase all new and unused 2000, 2001 and 2002 Oldsmobiles. The Bravada's sister vehicles, the redesigned Chevrolet TrailBlazer and the GMC Jimmy, also will go on sale soon, according to GM officials.
