General Motors has recalled more than 1,800 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks and vans because the vehicles included label text size that didn't conform to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 303, according to the company’s recall bulletin.
The recall affects 2013-MY and 2014-MY Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups, 2013-MY and 2014-MY Chevrolet Express vans, and the 2013-MY GMC Savana van.
The problem first came to light in 2013 when a CNG vehicle modifier told the automaker the fuel label was too large to fit on the fuel door, according to CarComplaints.com. In addition to this, the letters on the label were shorter than the required 4.76-mm height.
To reduce customer inconvenience, two new, bigger print labels will be mailed to those who are affected by the recall and can easily be applied. However, there will be no additional charge if a customer goes to the dealer to have them installed.
Owners of these vehicles can call Chevrolet customer service at 800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 800-462-8782 and use recall number 13365.
