The national average price of gasoline is down 7.3 cents to $2.066 for the week ending Jan. 19, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
The average price is now $1.23 lower than the national average of gasoline last year, according to the AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

This report also found states that are fueling up for the least amount of money are all in the Midwest. Missouri’s unleaded gasoline average is $1.756 per gallon and Oklahoma comes in second with an average of $1.797 per gallon. This week there are 25 states with an average price of less than $2 per gallon.
On the flipside, the states that have the highest fuel price are Hawaii at $3.313 per gallon and Alaska at $2.817 per gallon.
This plunging price trend also applies to diesel fuel. For the week, the national average fell 12 cents to $2.933. Diesel cost 94 cents more a year ago.
