Ford's 2019 Ranger will offer an array of options exclusively for fleet purchasers, as a midsize pickup that arrives early next year to reclaim the prominence it once enjoyed with pest control, landscaping, and other commercial and government fleets.

The 2019 Ranger returns from an eight-year hiatus with fleet-only options on its three available trim grades, including XL, XLT, and Lariat with a SuperCab 6-foot bed or SuperCrew 5-foot bed. The base Ranger XL offers the most fleet-only options.

"The 2019 Ranger is a completely new vehicle designed and engineered for North America," said Chad Callander, marketing manager for Ranger. "That means we can give our fleet customers the most up-to-date safety features and technology to keep drivers productive on the road. This truck is designed for today’s midsize truck buyer – it’s smart, capable and maneuverable in both off-road and urban environments."

Fleet buyers of the XL can upgrade to a 17-inch, silver-painted aluminum wheel (from the standard 16-inch wheel) with LT 265/65 R17 all-terrain OWL tires. Other upgrades include an exterior back-up alarm, cruise control, SYNC infotainment system, smart-charging USB port, six audio speakers, FordPass Connect 4G Wi-Fi modem that connects 10 devices, and Ford Telematics prep that enables telematics services through authorized partners. XL buyers can also add the Power Equipment Group and the Chrome Appearance Package. The Power Equipment Group includes a perimeter alarm, power mirrors, a remote key fob, and remote tailgate lock.

Fleet buyers of XLT can add an exterior back-up alarm, manual sliding rear window, SYNC 3 infotainment system, dual zone electronic automatic temperature control, upgraded 8-inch LCD touchscreen in center stack with swiping and pinch-to-zoom, and a voice-activated navigation system with two smart-charging USB ports.

Ranger Lariat fleet buyers can add the exterior backup alarm.

All models are powered by a 2.3L turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers power through a 10-speed automatic transmission – a first among smaller pickups – to rear-wheel or 4x4 drivetrains. Retail pricing for the XL has been set at $25,395. Ford is taking orders and will begin deliveries in early 2019. Ford hasn't announced a fleet incentive for the pickup.
