The public has been invited to attend the silver anniversary of the largest collection of antique, vintage and classic Mercedes-Benz automobiles at the 25th Annual Classic Mercedes-Benz Exhibition, announced Garth Blumenthal, general manager of Fletcher Jones Motorcars in Newport Beach, Calif. About 100 vehicles will be on display including such rare specimens as a World War II-era supercharged SSK Roadster, the SL300 "Gullwing," and a wide array of "Silver Arrows" -- the special edition SL model designed as an homage to the company's legendary 1930's race cars. Sponsored by Fletcher Jones Motorcars and presented by the Mercedes-Benz Club of America's Orange County section, the special event is free and will be held on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 at Fashion Island (located on Pacific Coast Highway between Jamboree Road and MacArthur Blvd.). In addition to the vintage models, a number of new Mercedes-Benz vehicles will be on display including the completely redesigned 2003 SL500 roadster, rugged G500 sport utility vehicle, C230 Kompressor and C320 Wagon. According to Blumenthal, a portion of the proceeds generated through sponsorship fees will benefit the Olive Crest Homes & Services For Abused Children in Santa Ana. "This year's silver anniversary event should be our finest ever as proud collectors from around the nation travel to Newport Beach to display their rare and exotic vehicles," said Blumenthal. "On behalf of everyone at Fletcher Jones Motorcars, I invite the public to come out and view these magnificent cars that have earned historical significance with their groundbreaking designs and triumphs in global racing competitions."
