Fleet Safety Tip of the Week: Preventing Parking Lot Crashes

Parking lots are filled with driving hazards. Here are some tips on how to avoid accidents in them.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, about 20% of all vehicle accidents occur in parking lots. It’s no wonder because parking lots are typically filled with pedestrians, vehicles backing up, people driving too fast, and drivers intent on ignoring pavement markings.

Both State Farm and Arch Insurance Group have compiled lists of tips aimed at preventing parking lot accidents. You may want to pass these along to your drivers as a friendly reminder.
