According to a Associated Press report on June 8, a retired Kentucky Department of Transportation employee was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stealing eleven “Fleet One” credit cards and trading them for drugs. Gordon Guy, 47, of Louisville allegedly used the cards to buy gas at several convenience stores. Then he allegedly traded the cards to buy crack cocaine. Over $12,000 in purchases has been illegally run up on the cards, according to the Kentucky State Police. Fleet One, the company that issues the cards, began an investigation in December after noticing suspicious transactions. "You could have the same card being used to fill up five or six or seven vehicles in just a matter of minutes or a matter of hours," Doug Hogan, spokesman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, said to Wave 3 TV in Louisville. The state-issued cards have blanket PIN numbers. A new state policy will replace blanket PIN numbers with personal numbers for all state-issued credit cards, the Wave 3 online report said. Investigators say the cards were stolen from a highway office in Louisville. More arrests are expected, according to the report. According to the company’s Web site, Fleet One provides fuel card services, factoring, electronic payment authorizations and billing and financial settlement to companies with fleets of vehicles.
